An Unopened Book

For The Rest Of My Nights

I didn't dare, let you know,
how I felt deep inside.
My heart was beating in my soul,
My Heart fell to foolish pride.
I might have let it slip a time or two,
but, I don't think it was clear enough.
But, it was directed right to you.
Putting yourself out there is so tough.
I should haves and might have beens,
surround my memory every night.
It seems your image always wins,
and never fades from my sight.
With you I finally was the on top,
the loser was lost in the past.
My heart was racing and couldn't stop.
I would never change a single thing,
if for the rest of my nights.
I could have you in my dreams,
and make all seem alright.
