Through The Eyes Of A Poet...

Remembered Place From Long Ago.

Sitting by the fire, slippers on his feet,
Pipe in his hand, hair slicked back so neat!

Whistling away to a tune in his mind,
A better dad, you couldn't find!

In the kitchen baking pies,
Pudding and cakes we devoured with our eyes!

A pan of ‘scouse' was his favourite food,
Visitors ate, for they wouldn't be rude!

Next time they came a hint they would throw,
‘Are you cooking scouse?' They wanted to know!

The Cornels chef in the Army, second to none,
He'd win any prize there was to be won!

Small in stature, big in heart,
It broke me in two when we had to part.

The kitchen is my remembered place,
Dad slaving away with a smile on his face!

Gone from the home, but mot from my heart,
I lost my friend, the day we had to part!

Remembered places, from way back in the past,
But memories to treasure, forever they'll last!

For My Dad
