Unrequited Love...2002

I have been devoured by the presence of he
Behind my smile you cannot see
The broken woman, entombed, entwined
In the misgivings of life,
In this state of mind.
My words now seem hollow, barren and gray.
No more black on white.
My pen ran astray; to a place of no answers; to a place I belong.
In a room clad in bars; no reason; no song.
Like the vast, deep, black ocean where hulls of death lay.
My spirit lays buried 'neath the sand, soil and clay.
'Neath promises made then cast to the wind;
My spirit now hovers in darkness, no end.
I gave to him freely, he who cried out in the night.
I soothed and I cradled his spirit, no fight.
My sins, I confessed to he who could hear.
He ran and he hid in his own guilt and fear.
We're all born to live; yet some born to die;
Some day to day; some such as I.
I born a soldier; to fight; stand alone;
To brave the harsh winds of iniquities sown.
My words now seem hollow, barren and gray.
No more black on white.
My pen ran astray,
To a place of no answers.
To a place I belong;
In a room clad in bars.
To a place with no song.
I have been devoured by the presence of he.
Behind my smile, you cannot see;
The broken woman, entombed, entwined;
In the misgivings of life;
In this state of mind...
