Words and Verse

Sovereign Beauty (Translation-Russian)

Andother one from Pushkin

I thought my heart had slaked and sated
Its thirst to suffer long before...
"The things that used to be" I stated
"Shall be no more! Shall be no more!"
Gone were the sorrows and the raptures,
And dreams believed too easily.
Yet once more Sovereign Beauty captures
And sets them quivering in me.
