Musings by The Poet Loriet
Gummy Icons
There they sat,
an ornate bowl full
of gummy looking Buddha figurines
at the quaint shop
full of imported goods.
They sat by the cash register
with a hand-lettered sign
in black marker
that read,
"Please don't eat the Buddhas."
And you and I laughed.
That was a very funny moment,
the kind private jokes
are created from,
and I knew the rest of the day,
all I'd have to say
to coax a smile~was,
"Please don't eat the Buddhas."
And it worked.
Thank you, neon pink Buddha
with your non-edible belly.
Thank you, silly gummy icon.
Thank you for the laughter
and for bringing us
together today.
