Facing My Fears
SigCity
"I use to be so afraid of storms and finally overcame it"
She peered out the window and knew the storm was near,
Tonite it was time to face her biggest fear.
She tried to ignore the panicky feeling she always got,
The one that made her stomach feel it was tied in a knot.
Lightning lit up the sky with a magical light;
Thunder in the distance rumbled through the night.
The trees swayed as the wind became strong,
I closed my eyes and prayed it wouldn't last for long.
Where this fear came from I wasn't sure,
Maybe facing it was the only cure.
I opened my eyes just as a lighning bolt hit the ground,
For a moment it was quiet,I couldn't hear a sound.
Suddenly...the heavens opened up and the rain began to pour,
I made myself watch until it was over...then I went to the door.
The air was fresh and the leaves glistened in the night;
How could I ever have been afraid of this beautiful sight.
