My Place

I often write poems to and about my nan, who I loved dearly and was very close to.  Unfortunatley she passed away when I was thirteen. My poems are just a message to her to let her know she will never be forgotten.

                       -------------------------

There is a place far away from reality,
Where I sit,
And the whole world silently passes by,
It is not an orchard or meadow,
Full of flowers or freshly cut grass,
It is not in the clouds or the sky,
I am alone here,
It is my place.

There is no silver moon,
Nor is there a golden sun,
No candles or deap blue sea,
Yet there is plenty of beauty that is clear to me,
There is nothing in particular that stands out,
Just me sitting,
It is my place.

There is light,
Enough for me to think,
But no sound, nor sight nor smell,
I cannot feel me,
I am numb,
I just know I am there,
It is a place to stop pretending,
It is an important element of my life,
It may sound crazy, but this place keeps me sane,
It is my place.

It is far away, yet so close by,
I know my loved ones are there,
But only because they belong there,
Yet I relise I am not alone,
Not even in my place,
I share it,
I share it with you Nanna,
It's our place.
