Nobody owns a cat
they just lend
that bit of their life
that they spend
with you

Nobody owns a cat
they just agree
to share your space
provided you see
not to invade theirs

Nobody owns a cat
they don't cry
or lose their dignity
when we die
just get on with living

Nobody owns a cat
but I still miss mine
even though
she'd see it as a sign
of my weakness
