God Is MY Judge!I have practiced my religion all my life, Said my prayers when I was in strife! Prayed for people sick and frail, Went to church and never did I fail! Brought up my children to believe in God as they should, Took them to church as only I could! It was my duty as their mum… I did well, and made sure my job was done! Now that my grandchildren are ready to follow, I'm disowned by the church, a bitter pill to swallow! Who has the right to deny me that choice? To stay or go, well I will use my voice! Denied the sacrament, Thrown out on my ear, But allowed to pray still…now that isn't fair! If I'm good enough to go to church to pray, Then who has the right to deny and say… That I can't continue as I have always done! But rather in effect, told to take a run! Well this is what I say, to that stupid rule! They are losing a parishioner, they are the fool! All my life I supported and didn't fail, But all of a sudden…I'm out on the rail! Thrown to the dogs is how I feel, They don't have the right…my religion to steal! Only God is MY judge, not any other, So as for the church, I will not bother! I will change my religion and start anew, It's the very least I feel I can do! If I can't see my family follow the path that I led, Then that's it for me, it must be said! Am I sorry that I divorced and got happy? No, I'm not, because now I'm a happy chappy! Why should I live a life so miserable and bad? Did God want me to be forever sad? No, I don't believe that's true at all, And I will know when I get my last call! Until then, no-one judges me! I won't be demeaned! I'm a good person you see! So I will ride the wave that's dealt my hand! And hope that God will understand! But I will not continue to accept the religion I was in! Why should I do that, because they say I'm with sin! I haven't sinned, not in my eyes so you see… I will walk away, and do right by me! Do I sound bitter I hear you say? The answer is YES I'm mad as mad today! God is MY judge, no other has the right! So yes, I walk away, straight into the light! Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
