The Perfect Gift

I walked window shopping
Going from store to store
I saw gold and diamonds
But I needed something more

Wrappings and bows
Were as far as the eye could see
But the perfect gift
Was what I did need

Something so special....
And it should be unique
Something from the heart
To place underneath his tree

SO I let out a sigh
Watching the snow fall to the ground
I wanted the perfect gift
But it was nowhere to be found

I sat and I wondered
For a moment or two
And that's when it happened
I knew just what to do

So deep in the night
As he softly slept
I got out of our bed
Down the stairs I had crept

I walked to the mantle
Where the stockings were placed
And I put in his a kiss
With a smile on my face

I walked to the tree
With its lights glowing bright
I placed under it my heart
With a squeal of delight

On the branch of the tree
I left a card meant for you
Saying I found the perfect gift
In the words....I love you
