Lost Lives  ( For National AIDS Awareness Day)

How many countless faces
must we lose before a cure is found?
so many quilts, all carrying the names
that bear a loved one
we have only memories of their lives cut short
it's not a gay disease
it's not a race disease
it's a universal disease that crosses all barriers
our only protection is precaution
but recent polls show people are still careless
why? is the message not being received?
or is it people just don't believe until is is them?
my heart aches when I see all those quilts
each year thousands more are made
so before you engage in questionable behavior
please take the time to think it through
let's make AIDS awareness everyday.

I know someone personally who has this disease, did you know that 1 out 5 people either know someone who has it, has it personally or has known someone that has passed away from it. I saw this on the news today and it just broke my heart....
