Words and Verse
Sunset Sonnet
The sun descends to his horizon's couch
But ere he sinks to total sleep, his fingers
Stretch out from his resplendent hand that lingers
Across the sky who blushes to his touch.
And even as his aureoled hand caresses
Her cloud-pink cheeks, and as her dulcet sighs
Echo along the gentle wind, he lies
To sleep, and drops his hand from her dark tresses.
The sky though, raptured sleepless, from above
Looks down in adoration at her love,
With passion gleaming in her lunar face.
Her starry skin aglow through her black hair,
She bathes him in her warming sensuous rays,
And sighs a soft “I love you” through the air.
