If I could fly,
I'd spin the sky like
cotton candy around
my hands, dance in
the rain and bask
in the sunlight,
sweet as honey.
If I could fly,
I'd bring you the moon
and be her goddess
adorned in a starlit gown.
I'd ride night's chariot
down shooting star trails,
feed you from a goblet
adorned with rubies so
that you could sip nectar
from the milky way.
I'd flutter with butterflies,
lorikeets, hummingbirds, angels
among the rarest orchids,
follow the bumblebees to
find the sweetest flowers
to make you a bouqet that
I can toss to you from
my silky cloud perch.
I'd touch your face gently
with mink-tipped wings as
I watched o'er you at night.
That sweet flutter, the rustle
of the night wind, the song
in your dreams that awoke
you with a smile...would
merely be my brushstroke--
