From Heart to Heart

The Hypocrite

He who hides from priest and men,
looking good, his awful sin,
what within his soul shall lay,
be it black or nearly gray,
may go through life and never faint,
but if be a thief, or be a saint,
made of silver, or made of gold,
made of wood, or made of coal,
by and by, be a goat, or be a sheep,
what he sows, he shall also reap.
