Where The River Flows

She walks to the riverside
And she sits upon the edge
She wants to rid herself of everything
Every thought that's in her head

She took with her a journal
All her poems written there
And she began to tear them slowly out
Dropping them in the water without a care

She's washing away the sorrow
And she's washing away the pain
She's washing away the hurt-filled words
Knowing she won't get them back again

She doesn't want to feel this way
So she drops pages in and away they go
And if she ever wants to remember
She'll come back to where the river flows

She didn't come to skip a rock
Or play in the tides of blue
She came to grasp her emotional freedom
It was what she needed to do

She's all alone and feeling fine
Her reasons are hers and no one else knows
But she cast away her doubts in love
Leaving them where the river flows
