Ya know what?
I've been to the other side.
The grass really is greener on the other side.
Not only that but
The flowers are brighter,
The trees, more vivid.
Plus, the yard is spectacular.
Lawn gnomes everywhere.
The house is lovely and bright,
Painted fairly.
The sky is more glowing
And at night,
The stars shine glisten brighter than the sun.
Everything on the other side
Is fantastic.
Someday, I'll take you there.
But not now.
You have yet to see things on our side.
Patchy, yellow grass strewn about,
Dead flowers and trees with dry rot.
The house is falling apart
And the yard sucks,
There is only a chain link fence
And garbage all over the place.
When you come to see this as your home,
A beauty all its own
You will someday realize that the other side
Is something you no longer crave to see.
And when you come to that realization,
Maybe you are ready
For that trip to the other side.
But on the other side,
We will not linger for too long.
