The wind's cool breath whispered our goodbyes
The star crossing the nightsky kissed the ebony with love The full moon becoming new, let go of her fullness The sun adjusted and realigned her axis Shining now but from a quiet distance I saw goodbye in every word unable to digest it You said many then whispered aloha kâua You the desert and I, a small oasis You the warm winds and I, the cool You the curve of the bow's rain And I, the prismatic colours Together we pavaned across the sky You our body's soul and I, the rest Separating the inseparable Gracefully yet silently we are dividing Consumed by the other's heartfelt loss Having already been consumed by our own We were the warm wind across the sandy beach The wave that lapped the lonely shore The sun's rays that danced upon refracted light The gravitational pull of the moon for the earth The simple poet's unborn words The love between unmet destined lovers Which we were once many, many moons ago I feel a loss but yet I don't Knowing you are near but enduring afar The Artist continues to paint our canvas So let's leave the paintbrush in his most capable hand I am not strong enough to paint right now I shall just continue to cross this endless desert Knowing that when I listen to the sands of my desert's echo I will hear a new muezzin's voice c a l l i n g to Medina And in the knowing, our hearts will smile Whilst embracing the beauty of what was The inevitability of what is And the splendour of what is yet to come. Ho`i hou i ka mole, nei kâne. `T. Imaan Tretchicovmanicova *aloha kâua is hawaiian for may there be friendship and/or love between us! *muezzin is arabic for the one who calls us to make the prayer. |
