A wonderful girl she was
Witnessing storms to come
Great misery and inner unrest
In the long run she did her level best.
It was starry night all day
Proud and exulting she was
Her skin glowed like lampshade
Was it this for her anger, she looked red.
A gold chain on her slim neck
A beautiful coral red ear ring
A lovely blue long skirt
She walked all around singing.
And the fateful day return too soon
So late into the night
The lake was a shining mirror
In the silver light of full moon.
I stared at me, she stared straight back
I knew for sure she would no more care.
The evening of life, the age old day
When I went out, the cupboard was bare.
An eye for resemblance
And did you ever see her
Did she speak for me?
Did she really shiver?
Miles and miles of green field
Will there be any shelter tree?
How strange it seems now
Death never stopped for me.
