MIKEY
A doctor sped quickly down the hall,
A tiny baby in the palm of his hand!
Sudden reality dawned on me,
I felt faint and could barely stand;
That tiny infant was my sister's child,
Whose life would be touch and go;
His chance of survival would seem high,
Then all of a sudden sink low;
It was so hard to see him lying there
With needles and tubes everywhere,
As the precious baby struggled for life,
My sister would sometimes despair;
After nine long months, Mikey pulled through,
Left the hospital very much alive,
Through a very difficult and trying time
We all managed to somehow survive;
As I look at him now, thirty some years later
I'm so proud and happy to say,
That Mikey's a robust and healthy young man,
We love and value him more every day.
