The Saddness of the Dark Prince

My black cape swirls in the wind, like the words in my head
“I love you…I want you…I can't wait for us to be together…”
Words that cut deep within this mythical armour I wear
Words that made me believe, words that made the dark prince rise again
From my sad and lonely dwellings I arose, to the sound of love
And when I was sure about everything, I was stabbed in the heart
Traitor, bruised, damaged, pain beyond pain, left alone
I saw the army before me, of hideous creatures
I once loved one of them once
Once allowed the seed of darkness to approach me
Allowed a vampire, worthless of human emotion and soul to touch me
To drain me, to sink her fangs into me and drain my strength
I see the armies below, like you see those love poems I have written
I was sure I could except a creature not wanted by man
For she had told me so, told me many times she loved me
What was I supposed to think? Supposed to feel?
Gone she has. Left me for a fool, a jester of hells courts
The prince of darkness does not offer his hand of friendship lightly
And never his heart, trusted her, I did, love her still I do
So I am faced with an army, I am outnumbered thousands to one
Just me and my sword, just me, alone, again, always alone
But I will not turn away; I will not give up on this battle
I will die in the name of love
Since Love does not want me in this mortal land
I will seek it in another.
