The history of the world _

Their worlds collided,
on Easter Sunday _ the 5th April 1722.
They came in three ships,
Dutch they spoke,
to spread their technology and influence.

On this new found island,
no weapons were there to be found.
Yet before the sun set on that first day of contact,
twelve islanders shot and buried in the ground.

Four thousand islanders,
now known to be polynesian in descent.
Happy and prosperous,
with sweet potato, yams, sugar cane
for the sailors _ the giveaway present.

What amazed these first visitors,
and has continued to this very day.
Were the hundreds of giant statues,
many smashed and toppled,
laying broken or still in the ground.

The islanders spoke of a time,
their Gods deserted them,
a time of chaos _ for all in the land.
A time to forget in their aural history,
in case it came back again.

What had caused it they didn't know,
or maybe they just wouldn't say.
With the power of the gun thrust in their face,
the Dutch were lucky to get the time of day.

Fifty years later,
as James Cook passed their way,
syphilis and disease had taken their toll.
Germ warfare from the Dutch sailors,
thickened bent bones from the island soil,
today give up their story _ and tell all.

His log also described their condition,
as the most wretched he had found.
On any islands of the south pacific,
not one tree left standing in the ground.

One hundred years after Cook's visit _ in 1862,
their last visitors arrived,
slave traders _ offering something new.
15 hundred people _ one third of the population,
sailed in chains to the mines of Peru.

One year later _  only fifteen were still alive,
to be taken back to their island home.
To spread small pox to all who remained there,
a tale not lost on those in modern times.

It was known as the great death,
 the following fourteen years.
Only one hundred and eleven survivors left,
when help arrived in 1877.

The island was littered with bones,
everywhere the place.
No one to bury the dead,
no knowledge of germs in those days.

With most of the aural history gone,
and no memory from those early years.
No one to explain the history of this island,
and how the statues walked _ upon mother earth.

It is only in recent years,
the puzzled pieces now finally fit.
Another technology called Science,
arrived on the island,
to see what it had done in the first place.

It is not to be sarcastic,
to describe these events this kind.
It is to bring to the surface,
 the materialising influence,
settled in the background _ waiting for the human mind.

For this tale is a history of the world,
a never ending story _ replayed again and again.
Belt your head against a brick wall often enough,
you should get the message _ in the end.

And therein lies the secret,
of where this influence should find it's place.
From the background it comes,
in the background it should stay,
not in the front seat judging the win of the race.

It should support a life on it's journey,
not call the shots in any way.
So give it control _ over an adventurous soul,
and watch entropy take place.

The same also goes for the alta ego,
a creation of the conscious mind.
A belief it is running the whole show,
unaware of spirit,
and in service to self.

The spoken word draws forth both polarities,
presenting choices for decisions of which way to go.
To speak in support of an outcome,
the opposite choice you also create.

It's because it exists in the language,
this other choice another may make.
Others will be drawn to the polarity they support,
it's just how decisions are made.

It is how we are controlled,
even to this very day.
If you're not with us you're against us,
A culture of fear exported,
everywhere the place.

The principles found here,
hermetic in origin they may be.
Help to explain polarities of thinking,
opposite poles of the same thing.

*****************

They first came to the island,
in about 700 AD.
From South America or Polynesia,
is still not determined,
as the first settlers _ would cremate their dead.

The early communities lived in an island paradise,
of this there can be no doubt.
The largest bird colony in the world,
the island covered in palms _ fish a plenty,
the worlds great seafarers had done it again.

With a population of 12,000 people,
three times the count when the Dutch sailors arrived.
Excavations show hundred's of stone houses,
from this paradise in early times.

The statues had a job to do,
they also had a name _ Rapa Nui Hai.
Translated _ ‘ The living face of our ancestors,'
placed on their platforms facing the people
with their backs to the sea.

They looked out over the people,
 to protect and inspire.
Brought to life when the stone inserts were found,
painted white to give life to their eyes.

The statues came from a quarry,
called Rano Raraku high up on the island.
Three hundred still remain in the ground,
the coffin holes in the cliff,
show where the others came from.

They were lowered from the cliffs by rope,
the wear marks through the holes,
still visible in the ground.
They were then walked ten miles,
up hills _ down valleys,
to their final resting place,
using ropes and logs to do the job.

These stones weighed up to 80 tons,
twice the size of the largest at Stone Henge.
Each tribe would carve their own statues,
all made with stone tools.

For 1000 years this continued,
until the sixteen hundreds,
when it came to an abrupt end.
Then no more pollen from the palm trees,
only grass pollen,
leaving their message in the mud.

The other clues came from the wildlife,
in the left over bones from their meals.
Twenty five species of bird _ fish and porpoise,
from the island had disappeared.

Carvings of people starving,
 the people started to make.
The palms now all gone,
no canoes to escape.

As their Gods deserted them,
chaos had reigned supreme.
Starting 100 years before the Dutch arrived,
600 skeletons showing violent deaths,
endemic warfare _ civil war _ a catastrophe.

The bones from this period,
were not cremated _ as in times before.
No trees left to provide the timber,
for the funeral fire.

The bones from these troubled times,
were polynesian in origin.
A trace marker from DNA testing,
now proving the point.

The Gods they had brought with them,
very much had a part in this play.
The influence of this technology,
controlled the power of their belief systems,
finally destroying their community.

It seems the building of the statues,
had taken on a life of it's own.
Tribes racing to out do each other,
to build the biggest and best,
the materialising influence in full flight.

The result was total deforestation,
no trees _ no soil _ no canoes _ no fish.
Trapped in a hell of their own making,
the last of the statues still lying in the ground,
now 400 tons and 80 feet tall,
what were these people thinking.

They turned on each other,
and they turned on their Gods,
the platforms and statues pulled apart.
In this man made ecological disaster,
the society self destructed,
still intent on serving the self.

Sinking to depths of cannibalism,
and all manner of evils the mind could invent.
The fabric of their culture quickly unravelled,
still focused on serving the self _ with intent.

Technology still came to their aide,
in the shape of the spear head now being made.
With two out of three dying during these 100 years,
the other polarity now started to rise.

With the deaths went their controlling belief systems,
the collective consciousness _ or culture,
 now allowed to change.
Less dogma to control their thinking,
the failed rituals left far behind.

It's not that they needed adversity,
before the other polarity was able to rise.
The other choices were always there,
blocked by the belief systems,
and the culture of their minds.

Replaced by a freedom to think,
to choose another way,
Some had their glasses half full,
able to see the light of day.

Through co-operation and inclusion,
they changed their culture,
with the alchemy of their mind.
Lives lived now in service to each other,
the creator calling them home.

It came in the form of the bird man,
carvings only now appeared on the rocks.
At a place named Orongo,
 near an extinct volcano,
the crashing sea the other side.

The annual ritual of the bird man,
transmuted war into a sport.
Each tribe would sponsor one of their own,
in a race that relied on ability, fitness and thought.

One mile off shore lay a small rocky island,
where the frigate birds would still come to nest.
The challenge was to return with the first egg laid
unbroken to the hands of your chief.

The egg was carried in a small woven basket,
strapped to the top of the head.
Across shark infested waters,
a test of courage and endurance _ like nothing else.

The chief who crowned the bird man,
was now called on to distribute the island's wealth.
The sharing of responsibility each year,
a bit like a democratic race.

War had been replaced by trust and co-operation,
human endeavour the winner all round.
A legacy left for all humanity,
the influence where it should be,
 in support of positive change.

The problems had been of their own making,
they found the solutions their own way.
But what chance did the bird man have,
when the materialising influence,
from the west _ once again invaded the land.

Physical laws,
determine this materialising influence,
this is set _ nothing else to do.
Controling the background of creation,
the angel of light,
known as the challenger _ to me and you.

Let this influence take over,
and watch the illusion of separation take place,
In relationships with others,
between two people or two nations,
the outcome is the same.

A signature is also left,
seen in self-serving behaviour,
for those who care to watch.
The attention of the will,
no longer in service to others,
birthed in a fear of missing out.

It is the history of the world,
it is what we are here to find out each turn.
It is your dreaming _ your alchuringa,
it's everywhere about the place _ so please learn.

The parable of Easter Island,
shows what will happen to this planet,
if we keep consuming the place.
The island surrounded by the Pacific,
the planet surrounded by outer space.

While telling this tale,
there is one other thing,
I just can't get out of my mind.
Did mother nature give them a helping hand,
after all this is the learning place,
as we are often told.

Because they must have seen it all coming,
they couldn't be that stupid it would seem.
No fat left on the meat,
to buffer a natural disaster _ served up by nature,
the islanders not living within their means.

Economic rationalism,
not a modern invention,
strips everything to the bone.
Lean and mean _ the materialising influence,
the engine driving this whole thing.

Did she give them a report card,.
in the form of a monster _  a tropical storm.
Taking away what was left on their island,
bringing their beliefs into question,
are we soon eligible for a similar form.

The two superpowers in this world,
are the USA and World Public Opinion.
Now stand back and watch,
as our liberties are lost,
in the fear of world terrorism.

The catch 22 to the enlightened view,
is how this got going in the first place.
Well it never got going _ it was always there,
waiting for the human mind to embrace.

The roots of this present day crisis,
go back 250 years,
To the minds of the illumined ones,
their manifesto then _ hidden from view.

The concept hatched _ the influence embraced,
behind the cloak of decency.
The teaching made secret _ in that special place,
instructing those of the higher degree.

Their manifesto split in two directions,
140 years ago _ the research will recall.
One group favoured the political,
the other the economic,
in their search for equality for all.

The political became the communist,
led by Karl Marx and others such as Lennin.
The economists went through the banking system,
now affecting everyone _ and thing about them.

One politic failed,
but there were still others prepared to have a go.
The fundamentalist plight of the religious right,
now have their man in the right office.

Belief systems from histories time,
all now appear for the final act of the play.
Before the curtain is drawn,
will we finally learn,
they are all running from the same thing.

There is a point to be made,
and I better make it quick,
or start writing another poem.
You see it didn't matter which direction they took,
they were still chasing the same pole,
of the same thing.

The pole we really need to focus on,
is highlighted indeed,
by a notion of selfless service to others.
Just look at the retoric to find out the truth,
of the outcome and where we are heading.

To invade another country,
has its answer in the sermon on the mount.
You become the same as the monster,
you are righteously willing to take out.

When a consensus of world opinion decides,
to defend those in a member nation oppressed.
The use of violence becomes LAWful,
defending another's rights to freedom _ to the death.

Within this text you will find a message,
a legacy of Easter Island.
The same one found in The Lord of the Rings,
Totstoy's masterpiece,
and not too hard to find both of them.

Tolystoy's original manuscript,
was proof read by a child of eleven.
When asked what he thought of it,
he replied, ‘ I liked it, but few kids would understand it.'

His father the publisher then asked him,
‘So what would you want to do with it?'
He replied, ‘ If you gave me one million pounds,
I would still go ahead and publish it.'

Tolstoy said that to explain his times,
the book was never intended.
He left it open _ throughout his years,
for other minds to find meaning to their questions.

The trilogy of The Lord of the Rings,
the titles meaning _ waiting to be found.
Waiting for the first three years of this century,
in the popular release of the film,
from the land of the long white cloud.

The Fellowship of the Ring _ the Two Towers _ the Return of the King,
within the titles are the links _ to solutions in our own time.
With no such thing as co-incidence,
an attempt now to explain it in rhyme.

The Fellowship symbolic of the polarity,
in selfless service to another.
Showing by example the lessons learnt,
to know another as your brother.

The Two Towers show the opposite poles,
the opposite poles to the same thing.
The materialising influence drawing one pole together,
in the horror of the World Trade Centre,
wrapped in the symbol it represents.

The last is the Return of the King,
to our hearts _ by retuning the human mind.
Each heart to choose its own,
by free will each time.

If we all followed a simple recipe,
there would be so little trauma in our lives.
To only allow the use of violence,
in defence of our own mind, body and soul.

In this perfect world,
there would be no violence at all,
as no one would be able to use it.
Nothing to defend against,
as all would be defending the self.

This provides a direction,
to attune to and show the way.
This twin brother of the influence,
supports all life on this planet,
including the human race.

To not direct the global mind,
away from this culture of fear.
Is to invite the influence into our lives,
to rule decisions we make.

The example of Easter Island,
has a message left for us there.
Those enlightened minds,
with their cups half full,
transmuting culture,
their light showing the way.
