Be True to Yourself

Making a New Year's Resolution

Another year over as a new one begun,
As we reflect on the things left undone;
So much we are to do in so little of a time,
Making us feel like we committed a crime;
We never seem to do what we are suppose,
Caring more for another's dirty windows;
We scrutinize another before one's own,
Just to gossip about and to throw stone;
But Christ told that anyone without sin,
Can cast the first stone allowed to begin;
When did you last look in your own closet?
How many skeletons in there you deposit?
Have you left any of the stones unturned?
All the credit you have been justly earned?
Maybe it's time that yourself be examined,
Instead of trying to be so high fashioned;
Hiding things in your closet only deceive,
Your own inner self in trying to achieve;
Still God is able to see all right through,
For it is a must for thine self being true.
