Your cross is not children you're called to bare,
nor is it God's message you're asked to share.
Your cross is not disease nor some sudden loss,
and, no, your stepmother is not your cross...
Your cross is not problems that come your way,
nor hard situations that you face each day.
Your cross is not a husband nor a wife,
and, no, God is not the cross in your life.
Your cross is not smiling when feeling sad,
nor is it holding back when everything goes bad.
Your cross is not addictions that fill a loss,
but laying down your life ... that is your cross.
