The children dressed up for Christmas
In their festive holiday wear
And acted like they were the ones
Who worshipped Jesus there.
The “Future Farmers” got involved
And furnished all the bleating sheep
That grazed there in the pasture green
As shepherds watched their keep.
The angels gathered overhead
In gold and silver tinseled wings
And when Mary came on the stage
They all began to sing.
Forgotten in the Christmas rush,
Back stage a lowly shepherd boy
Cried out with a blood curdling scream
That all became annoyed ...
“Teacher! Teacher! Can you help me?
Please, Don't get mad! Please, understand ...
I have looked for him everywhere ...
Somehow, I Lost the Lamb!”
From expressions on teacher's face,
Between upset and filled with rage,
I could tell this was not the plan
As children ran off stage.
Oh, everything became chaos
With children running everywhere
While future farmers gathered sheep
And penned them up with care.
One sheep remained a mystery
That it seemed none on Earth could find
Until the girl who played Mary
Restored some peace of mind.
Yes, the audience was puzzled
As on the little girl they gazed
While out of the wooden manger
A little lamb was raised ...
“Teacher! Teacher! Please forgive me?
Please, Don't get mad! Please, understand ...
I had placed him in the manger ...
And Jesus is the Lamb!”
