"Want to put my tender heart in a blender~watch it spin around to a beautiful oblivion~rendezvous then I'm through with you~" *Eve Six*
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
is where my heart lies
waiting for an 18-wheeler
to run it over and
flatten it like
a pancake without
any syrup or butter.
I put it out there
for a gentle creature
to scoop up and protect,
aware of the risks
and the urban sprawl
that threatened my
heart habitat.
But there are no
protective reserves left
for this timid entity,
only hunters and once
someone mounts it
upon their wall,
you can buy me
a blender to
congratulate me.
Send out the dogs.
They already know my scent.
Send them before I get
crushed once again.
My blood has spilled
on this road before.
Its a better fate to
hang my hearts corpse
on a taxidermy plaque
and call me yours
than to be alone.
Do you see my
dilemma?
I already have
a Hamilton Beach
seven speed from
my first endeavor.
Maybe next time,
someone will buy
a Cuisinart
for my untimely
arrythmia.
