I planted a tree a long time ago,
Hopeful that sapling would grow and grow,
I visit the place from time to time,
To see if my tree is doing fine.
It’s growing so tall and touching the sky,
With branches so thick and many entwined,
A beautiful wonder this tree will be,
And it would not be there if it was not for me.
It grows on a hill so for miles around,
You’re able to see it wherever you stand,
Twenty years old but still very young,
This glorious tree’s life’s just begun.
I’ll come back and see from year to year,
And one day I hope my children come here,
But for now I will leave it standing in glee,
And go with the memory the sapling my tree.
