Is it so hard to understand this screen
That sits before me,
I’ll switch it on and see what’s there,
I’m sure it won’t ignore me.
A flashing light and bleeping tunes,
Excitement starts to fill the room,
C colon slash what does this mean,
You’re only a computer screen.
So to the book then I must go,
And read it up then I will know,
Page by page I have to read,
And oh of course that’s what I need.
C colon slash then enter Gem,
But what the heck will happen then,
So to the keyboard I do go,
Command the word Gem enter whoah.
And in a flash my screen has changed,
God blimey here I go again,
Mind boggled dumfounded computer astounded,
My brain is on fire with technology language.
I’m puzzled and muddled I Haven’t a clue,
So I’ll put down the book and leave it with you,
To unpick my brains and let it sink through,
So deep in my head that I’ll know what to do.
And if I succeed my path will be clear,
No more will I worry no more will I fear,
All the things I have seen on this VDU screen,
For technology’s mine the future is seen.
With memory and modem all fixed in my head,
I can sit at the screen and chuckle instead,
Of shaking and quivering from head to my toes,
For I have the path and the magic can flow.
