Everyone in this world for own self
Her wrists did tremble- her knuckle paled
She talked to herself- with a flicker of regret
Her sonorous voice dropped into a whisper.
One tree in the lawn was full of leaves
One bird in the branches was silent
Brick-laid path, overlapping flower bushes
Curved staircase, brass plate nailed on the frontage.
She knew her husband will never back
Her children abandoned her long ago
She was hopelessly alone in this world.
Unmindful she scratched the window glass
She could sweep the attic
She could repack some boxes
She could cover the telephone with yellow fabric
But she did nothing-stood frozen.
Music on the radio reached a crescendo
Pounding with clashing of cymbal
The room filled with drumbeats at the peak,
All on a sudden, she switched off the radio
She went out, not in the office
She drove the car at slow speed
Of traffic in either direction.
So many cars hurled past her.
She went to shopping malls-came out empty-handed
Rushed towards a café-a strange giddiness crept in
Bumped into a dark theatre hall-so many strangers stared at her
She left in a hurry.
All the tall buildings-the rows of parked cars
The dark green trash bins-the nursery schools
Narrow road, one lane on the other side
She became restless-her look was vacant.
She came back to her house
She had to slow down her life
She took her last resort
Opened her desk, tore the packet
Pushed the syringe on her body
Slowly she plunged into a dream world
All the boredom melts away in
The glow of the fantasy world
She walked to the open balcony
Sit under autumn sun glowed without warmth
With the passage of time-
She collapsed on the floor
She dissolved in her loneliness.
