Dear Mama

Dear Mama, I am sorry I have not written in days,
Over here they have very different ways,
We do not get a whole lot of sleep,
At night time many just watch and weep.

Mama, I cant tell you everything is alright,
But over here is such a terrible sight,
You remember my friend Biily Joel?
He was counted yesturday with the death toll.

Mama, I am not trying to make you frown,
I am very sadden and even at times down,
This is not what I thought it would be,
I do not see how this war can make us free.

Mama, each day I am afraid for my life,
Will I make it back home? Or ever have a wife?
I wished I had good news to say,
I know you Mama tonight will pray.

Mama, I feel sorry for the people of Baghdad,
Seeing them die, some just a small lad.
I wanted you to know that I love you,
And I apprieciate all you and dad do.

Mama, tell dad I miss our times together,
And I pray one day we will have another,
I dont know really what else to say,
I am really trying here to be brave.

Mama, I know I did not listen to your voice,
And I know this was by my own choice,
I was wrong and did not understand,
Now the hard way I have become a man.
