I Asked  of God #115

I asked of GOD a treasure,
He gave me thorns instead.
I asked of GOD a kingdom,
He placed them on His head.
I asked of GOD a future,
He forgave all my past.
I asked of GOD adventure,
He far my burdens cast.
I asked of GOD a power,
He gave me wilted reed.
I asked of GOD abundance,
His scars began to bleed.
I asked of GOD a fortress,
He broke my heart in two.
I asked of GOD a courage,
He helped me make it through.
I asked of GOD a beauty,
He dropped his purple robe.
I asked of GOD well-being,
His back withstood the load.
I asked of GOD an honor,
He rose up on the cross.
I asked of GOD a miracle,
And now all but Christ is loss.
