We Have To Let Go…

~THE SIG BOX~

When things turn out sad and we're hurting,
And we find life is hard to take,
When all around is falling apart,
And there's a decision we must make.

We have to let them go…
And let them move forward into the light,
Give them the peace they deserve,
Whether it be wrong or right.

When we have a pain so deep in the heart,
And nothing makes any sense at all,
We don't want change or accept it,
When a loved one gets the final call!

We are selfish we want them to stay,
Because we don't want them lo leave our life,
But they are in pain, they need release,
They need to lose the hurt and strife.

They try and fight as hard as they can,
To stay in this place they love,
They don't want to lose their life,
But they are being called from up above.

They know that we are hurting,
They also know we are in pain,
At the thought of him letting ‘us' go…
Hurts him, we want everything to stay the same.

We have to let go, I know that,
For when we lost our dad,
We were distraught, devastated,
We wanted him to stay so bad.

He suffered, suffered like I have never known,
It's not right that anyone should suffer so,
And that is why, when the time came,
We had to let our dad go…

He was so very ill and in pain,
And we were being as selfish as could be,
So we told him, we whispered to him,
‘Dad, its ok, we set you free…'

He smiled…oh he gave such a smile,
So serene and as understanding as could be,
He relaxed his body, and just like that,
He slipped away from us, from me.

I miss him so, I miss his ways…
And I miss just having him around,
But forever, no matter what,
My memories can always be found…

In every breath of the wind,
Every ripple in the sea,
And every beat in my heart,
So my dad's heart beats within me.

We have to let go…
