That Day
That day she came to my house
Her footprints on the long corridor
On the wet clay of the green lawn
Remained there day and night.
That day she came to my house
Her deft touch, her great affection
Her eye for every minute detail
Filled the curved wooden staircase.
That day she came to my house
She sang her favorite love song
In eerie silence of pitch darkness
In the keyboard of dusted piano.
That day she came to my house
She opened my glass book case
She read aloud my love poems
Her deep voice enlivened my room.
That day she came to my house
One two tears might have shed
On my writing pad, on my desk
On the black yet elegant shelves.
That day she came to my house
I was not there, not in this town
She slept in my bed, she dreamt
I missed her again in my pursuit.
