The Ugly Duckling

I am but an ugly duckling
Ruby lips for a beak
A soft sultry little lovesong
I let out with a squeak

Ivory fluffed down feathers
Just like silk for a skin
Hiding my water touched wings
Somewhere deep within

If you want to see me
Don't look up to the sky
For life keeps me grounded
Even though I really try

I look all around me
Such beauty I do see
And I splash out a reflection
Of the ugly duckling, yes me

So tell me please...If you would
When you look upon this pond
Why you don't see me for what I am...
You see me as a beautiful swan

Perhaps this little duckling
Should have seen from the start
That the source of ones beauty
Lies deep inside the heart
