My Best Friends

The friends that always agree with what ever I say,
Ones that stay right by my side every single day.
They listen like every word is meant especially for them,
They cock their head like they're trying to take it all in.
When I get depressed or I'm not feeling very well,
You can bet...they're the first ones that can tell.
Always faithful and loyal...ready for any command,
Always willing to sit,lay...or give me their hand.
All of my best friends have been ones other people
were ready to discard,
Like they were just an old handbag or possession...
how can they be so cruel and hard?
I get too attached and it always hurts when they're
gone,
Some lived long happy lifes...others didn't make it
that long.
Two of my best friends died because of another persons
cruelty,
I cried for six months...and then another little
stray came to me.
I guess I'll always get attached...it seems the thing
to do,
You know your best friends will always do anything
for you.
