Rest Stop

There is a welcome center
no too far down the road
you think you can make it?
she says I don't know, how far again must I go?
My legs are tired from the running
my heart beats 100 miles per hour
my skin is burnt to a crisp
She has been in the sun too long
she thought it would be fun
but some where along the way she lost all she had
he stole from every part of her body
left her drained and alone
all sense of purpose vanished and gone
now she is caught in a vicious cycle
can't go without that high of the drugs
can't go without that man that beats her for too long
I have heard the story so many times I can repeat it
word for word, she says I am going to stop taking
she says I broke up with him for good
she disappears, leaves for a while
returns all broken again
and the pieces gets harder to put back together
she cries to me all she needs is shelter
all she needs is to make it to the rest stop
but the problem isn't her surroundings
I fear it's went inside and now she is a prisoner
of her own warped mind...
