Poetic Feelings

SHOULD I TRY THIS AGAIN?

I once had a love that felt just right,
Woke me each morning, put me to sleep at night;
After daily pressures of a stressful job
And nightly fights with a rush-hour mob;
I'd walk into my house and close the door,
Peace and warmth would fill my soul once more;

But our love burned out and I began to feel
That evenings with him were too great an ordeal;
Started working late to keep from going home,
Or sit on a park bench and let my mind roam;

Finally decided it was best that we part,
Learned to deal with the pain of a broken heart;
Entering my house felt cold and alone,
Took will power to stay away from the phone;

This morning I got the surprise of my life,
He walked into my office, said, "I want my wife!"
I'd missed him so much, didn't know what to say,
Such sadness had overwhelmed me day by day;
I stood there, speechless, trying hard not to cry;
Would I be a fool to give this just one more try?
