Hindi ko inaasahan na landas nati’y magtatagpo,
Sa syudad na kung saan ay kay layo sa kinaroroonan ko;
Sa unang pagdadaupang-palad pa lang natin
ay napagkuro ko na,
Ikaw nga, kaibigan, ang malaon ko nang hinahanap.
At tumagos sa kaibuturan
ang walang hanggan mong katapatan,
At totoong nadama ko na isa kang tunay na kaibigan;
Magmula nga noon ay natuto na akong magtiwala,
Sapagkat naglaho na ang di-mabilang kong agam-agam.
At ang ngiti mo sa labi ay sapat na ngang pamawi,
Sa mga kaligaligan ko at pangwawasak sa akin ng kapwa;
Ang iyong matang mapanuri na nang-aarok ng damdamin,
Ay katangian mong nagbibigay sa akin
ng tuwa at pag-asa.
Kulang na bigkasin ko at alayan ka
ng maraming pagpapasalamat,
Hindi rin sapat ang panulat
bilang ganti sa mga kabutihan;
Subalit sa iyo, kaibigan, ay taos-puso kong inihahayag,
Magmamahal ako’t magtatapat sa iyo
bilang sukli sa kadakilaan.
Hanggang dito na muna pansamantala itong aking panitik,
Lagi mo sanang tandaan na laging nagmamahal ako sa iyo;
Kaya ingatan mong lubos at palagi na ang iyong sarili.
At magpakasigla kang lagi na
sa mga pananambahan sa Diyos!
