The ScareCrow

I am the loveless scarecrow
In a field of rotten crops, nowhere to go
Oh I attract the Birds all right
They terrorise me day and night
I just can't scare them away
They come and peck out my eyes everyday
So much so that I see things differently
That maybe these birds actually like me
I thought they came to see me as friend
But I knew this fantasy would soon end
The farmer and his son would look at me
Saying that I was not doing my job properly
They gave me a new jacket and a cowboy hat
And with my new eyes I saw all the fields around me, dead and flat
The beautiful green crops that I was supposed to protect
Had all died because of my neglect
The crows and the other birds had used me
And driven my mind to insanity
Yet I had a scarecrows heart as well as his brain
I guess they did not know that even scarecrows feel pain
