The Longest Night

        all the things you said
             just keep running through my head
                          running through my head."

Tonight
is the longest night,
like driving to Vegas
and starting at bedtime
because you've gotta
experience Vegas as
hundreds of miles of
desert nothingness
and then at three a.m.
you come up over the
mountains and you see
her shimmer...
and it takes
your breath away.

Only tonight...
I never reach
the desert oasis.
I thirst for you,
and remain
unquenched.
