From Li Bai. 38th poem of the Tang 300

Above the Tian Shan range, a moonユs adrift
On oceans of low clouds and mist, alone.
At the Jade Pass, the long wind whirls and howls,
Across a thousand miles of distance blown...
漢下白登道,   All Chinaユs armies march down Baideng road
The Tartar hordes make Qinghai bay their own,
And since not every warrior returns
From any war that history has known,
The men look back and scan the borderユs scene,
Their faces blaze with longing thoughts of home,
Of those who lie in towered chamber rooms.
There women toss and turn, and weep moan.
