Poetic Wings

How high can I fly before the wax
melts from my poetic wings?

All these years…
The praise in my ears still ring.
I’ve soared like an eagle.
Accolades, salutations, plaques
and awards adorn my walls.
An with all that, there’s still
a flame burning in my soul
to fly higher and higher,
before I take that final fall.

Verse after verse,
rhyme after rhyme,
as the wax melts…
there will be no
more time, and no
more rhymes.
