For My Father

(I'll always be your Peanut)

I took my first breath
Small lungs filled with air
I was placed in the arms
Of soft love and care

Oh how he did hold me
Like fragile glass to his chest
As he promised to raise me
Trying to do his very best

Time slips so slowly
And now I have grown
And I think back to the love
And the care he had shown
I think of his hands
So gentle and strong
But as the days passed
Their strength has all gone

But I'll remeber that day
And how he used to be
Yet I still love the man
In this picture I see
