Poetic Creation
We hunt, we peck, erase and
wear out the spell check.
We repeat, re-write, edit
until we’re a nervous wreck.
We worry about construction and rhyme.
We worry about the venomous
tongue-lashing from critics from
time to time.
Critics…
who accusing us of deficiency
of poetic reason and rhythm,
But hey…
who are they to say,
what constitutes a poem?
It’s you and me that spends
the wee hours of the night,
trying to build a bridge
from mind to mind,
one poetic word at a time.
Every poem may not rhyme,
but who cares…as long as
it comes from a poetic mind.
So, have no fear…
continue to write the words
that creates a little smile
are gentle coex a tiny tear.
