His smiles look forced,
Misery present in his eyes.
I wonder when the time will come,
For this saddened man to die.
He yearns to be heard,
But once it is said
That a man who loses love for life,
Deserves to be dead.
I try to understand his
Benign anger, his misleading smiles,
But he shows to sign of breaking,
I think I'll chat with him a while.

*I like it that I am oftentimes provoked to write poems about people I've never even met. This is about an old man I saw in a picture who looks like he was harshly forcing his smile, like it was a pain to him. And get this. It was a person's husband on one of the millions of poetrypoem sites. I'll say no more for fear of offending someone AGAIN!
