Words and Verse
The Instant of Wonder
I recall that instant of wonder when you
Flew before me, gold in your glory. Like a
Fleeting apparition you passed, and like pure
  Beauty's own genius.
When the turns of tumult and turmoil vexed me
When the world would wrack me with sounds a-pounding
It's your voice that tenderly still caressed me,
  Even while dreaming.
Months like storms passed, whirlwinds and blusters scattered,
Shattered all the dreams, I forgot your voice's
Tender tones, and sunk to glumness' gloom from
  Your face's heaven.
Numb in gloom, I languished away as quiet
Days meandered on, stilled of inspiration
Stilled of life, of tears, of your love, entombed in
  Bleak isolation.
Then my soul awoke from its inanition
When you flew before me, an apparition
Fleeting gently, gold in your glory like pure
  beauty's own genius.
Now my pulses bound in their exhaltation
Now my world's reborn all anew with life and
Full of tears, and wonderful inspiration
  All's full of love now.
Flew before me, gold in your glory. Like a
Fleeting apparition you passed, and like pure
  Beauty's own genius.
When the turns of tumult and turmoil vexed me
When the world would wrack me with sounds a-pounding
It's your voice that tenderly still caressed me,
  Even while dreaming.
Months like storms passed, whirlwinds and blusters scattered,
Shattered all the dreams, I forgot your voice's
Tender tones, and sunk to glumness' gloom from
  Your face's heaven.
Numb in gloom, I languished away as quiet
Days meandered on, stilled of inspiration
Stilled of life, of tears, of your love, entombed in
  Bleak isolation.
Then my soul awoke from its inanition
When you flew before me, an apparition
Fleeting gently, gold in your glory like pure
  beauty's own genius.
Now my pulses bound in their exhaltation
Now my world's reborn all anew with life and
Full of tears, and wonderful inspiration
  All's full of love now.
