Words and Verse
A Kiss
Another from my poetry journal... I wrote this when I was around 13 so forgive the immature composition
How sweet when the immortal soul
Feels bells outring and drummers roll
To praise the flame that warms the heart
And spreads throughout my every part.
That blaze, the fire within your hair,
Bathed in the day, spews everywhere
Its crimson glows. Bright day now done
Seems as a candle to the sun,
The hearth-fire cold, its embers dark,
Its raging fire ignites no spark,
All vivid pictures lie bereft
Of life and light, with nothing left.
And nothing left in my poor soul
But you, your glow, the last lone coal
That blazes with the kiss I knew
When all my world was made of you.
How sweet when the immortal soul
Feels bells outring and drummers roll
To praise the flame that warms the heart
And spreads throughout my every part.
That blaze, the fire within your hair,
Bathed in the day, spews everywhere
Its crimson glows. Bright day now done
Seems as a candle to the sun,
The hearth-fire cold, its embers dark,
Its raging fire ignites no spark,
All vivid pictures lie bereft
Of life and light, with nothing left.
And nothing left in my poor soul
But you, your glow, the last lone coal
That blazes with the kiss I knew
When all my world was made of you.
