Invasion

You came into my world one day
With your soft and witty charm
Invading my inner sanctity
While I carelessly dropped my guard

I let you in this fortress of mine
Beyond the walls around my heart
Not knowing that the day would come
You would tear my heart apart

I thought for once that I had found
A kindred spirit to come inside
But now I tremble within the aftermath
With nothing left now but my pride

Such a quick and painfilled victory
I still hear your battle cries
I only hope I can resurrect the wall
Before you prey upon what hasn't died

Time it passes so slowly now
Only scars left among the pain and doubt
And as I relish this refined construction
I realize I still can not keep you out
