you want my heart

to win my heart you need just to be true
by giving me a painting of you,
the words falling from your lips
escape my delicate ears,
take me by the hand
we can walk through the mists
of the falling rain,
with each step we are deep in isolation,
there is no one here but you and me,
my words telling you all my fear and pain,
and why i am so afraid,
still i can't understand why you want
to have my heart,
one filled with pain and regret,
please help me to understand,
who you think i am,
for in my eyes i am a simple woman
trying to keep from drowning in fear,
of being alone and terrified to be in love
and the pain it seems to bring,
i implore, no i urge you to tread softly
with my heart,
its been broken oh so many times before.....
