Inside

Inside I can feel their strength edging me onward
tugging, pulling, and pushing
me to work harder, study longer and continue growing.
The force they posses is embedded beneath my genes.
Kings, Queens, Pharaohs, Goddesses, and Monks;
Nuns, Philosophers, Astrologers, Writers, and Poets;
Hustlers and Pimps;
Generals, Colonels, Soujas, Slaves, and Peasants.
From my strongest vein I shed blood to represent the warrior's creed.
From my rib she emerged now my ciphers complete.
360 degrees I turn each day another lesson I learn
another blessing is earned, every time the road gets rough
I dig within the depths of my soul and extract one of my divine spirits;
their strength, knowledge, and courage enhances my chances of surviving another day
of late night dancing with the devil by the pale moon light
They inhabit my flesh with every pump of my heart
I hear their hard breathing breath, telling me not to give up
motivating me to enhance until the sky is in the palms of my hands,
until the shine of the light is caught by my naked eye;
they keep me balanced
no worry of my ying and yang ever colliding
mentally strong the secret of my surviving so long
combined with continuous blessings by the Lord;
Dr. King reminds me to follow my dreams;
Mr. X explains that the struggle must end by any means;
Booker T. Told me to make my divided fingers form a fist
and don't forget what that symbol represents
Power and Strength
Dubois said 90% would listen to the wisdom of the talented tenth,
but I've rearranged his plans because 100%
can advance to this!
