A Kind Woman With AppealA Poem from the novel "The Essence of Poetry: Gerald's Initial Book of Poems" Written by: Gerald L. Ingraham --------------------------------------------- For quite some time now, She has been subjected to pain; Emotional pain of why and how Could people scandalize her name; She is very attractive and young; Not mentioning, how smart and kind She likes to admit it when she's wrong, Because it haunts her mind. Many times, she wondered why; Why was she really born? She wanted so bad to die, Because her weary heart was torn From the slander of the masses And she drowned in her regret As the yellow journalism passes; Tears were the ultimate effort. As the lies had to elevate, She lived in more harsh ruth, Because she thought fate Stole her pride without the truth; She is a lady and didn't know it; She tried in effort to work methodical; At work, nobody cares if she did show it Until she was found in the periodical. The weekly paper's front page stated She was raped four times and killed After the rapist was considerd to be sated, But no one was so very thrilled When he said "She tried to fight back at first; However, she gave to an aroused man And believe that her life was at worst; So she no longer cared if nobody else can." The back article in the paper revealed That since work was her only known passion, All evidence to the case was to be cealed And the words by the rapist were of stupefaction In this statement of what took place, But no one wants to take a stand; So the rapist may not have life to face, Because nobody wants to give the lady a hand; The victim may be dead and gone Unless someone steps forward for her; Then only can her legacy live on In what they say they saw had occured. Rape... It's a crime; Step forward and escape From it occuring another time. Lies... It's a sin; Try to get the truth, not the cries Of the next victim before they gives in.
